چکیده
Abstract The zooplankton communities often exhibit daily vertical migrations to avoid natural ultraviolet radiation and/or fish predation. However there is no information on this topic in Chilean North Patagonian lakes up date. Therefore, study deals with a first characterization of plankton crustacean migration two temperate, oligotrophic (Villarrica and Panguipulli lakes, 39°S) Southern Chile. Zooplankton were collected at different depths intervals (0-10m, 10-20 m, 20-30m, 30-40m) early morning, middle day, evening night the studied site. results revealed that species (Daphnia pulex, Ceriodaphnia dubia, Neobosmina chilensis, Mesocyclops araucanus, Tropocyclops prasinus) are abundant surface zones night, morning evening, whereas day abundances high deep zones. agree observations for Argentinean American where these patterns reported due mainly exposure, northern hemisphere combined effect predation exposure.

متن کاملDiel vertical migration and spatial overlap between fish larvae and zooplankton in two tropical lakes, Brazil.
The effect of fish larvae on the diel vertical migration of the zooplankton community was investigated in two tropical lakes, Finado Raimundo and Pintado lakes, Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil. Nocturnal and diurnal samplings were conducted in the limnetic region of each lake for 10 consecutive months from April 2008 to January 2009. The zooplankton community presented a wide range of response...
متن کاملEstimating In Situ Zooplankton Non-Predation Mortality in an Oligo-Mesotrophic Lake from Sediment Trap Data: Caveats and Reality Check
BACKGROUND Mortality is a main driver in zooplankton population biology but it is poorly constrained in models that describe zooplankton population dynamics, food web interactions and nutrient dynamics. Mortality due to non-predation factors is often ignored even though anecdotal evidence of non-predation mass mortality of zooplankton has been reported repeatedly. One way to estimate non-predat...
متن کاملMicrocrustacean assemblages composition and environmental variables in lakes and ponds of the Andean region-South of Chile (37-39° S).
The zooplankton assemblages in Chilean Patagonian lakes are characterised mainly by their low biodiversity and high predominance of calanoids copepods, a pattern that has been studied for large and deep lakes between 38-51° S, and shallow ponds at 51° S. The aim of the present study was analyse the zooplankton assemblages in different water bodies located in coastal zones, middle valleys and mo...
متن کاملVertical Distribution of Zooplankton and Copepod Community Structure in the Straits of Malacca
Vertical distribution of zooplankton biomass and abundance, copepod taxonomic composition and species diversity were analyzed at eight stations during an oceanographic expedition along the Straits of Malacca. Samples were collected in vertical hauls (140 μm mesh using 45 cm diameter NORPAC net) from four depth strata. Zooplankton biomass was higher at 10-20 m depth in the central and southern p...
